CBDT Notifies Income Tax Exemption to Uttarakhand Avas and Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has issued an official notification no. 33/2026, dated March 27, 2026, granting income tax exemption to an authority established under the Uttarakhand Urban and Country Planning and Development (Amendment) Act, 2013.

As per the notification, the income tax exemption has been granted to the “Uttarakhand Avas and Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran” having PAN AAAGU0071N by the Central Government of India in pursuance of its powers granted under sub-clause (b) of clause (46A) of section 10 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961).

The instruction in the said notification will apply from the Assessment Year 2025-26. However, the exemption will only apply if the authority continues to remain constituted under the Uttarakhand Urban and Country Planning and Development (Amendment) Act, 2013, and it carries out at least one of the purposes mentioned in sub-clause (a) of clause (46A) of section 10 of the Income-tax Act.
